History

Bas van Raay (1981) graduated in 2007 from the Design Academy in Eindhoven NL. He graduated at the department 'Man and Public Space', and studied at the department 'Man and Well Being' before. He did his internship at K&H Architects in Tokyo Japan. His graduation projects 'heatingpoint' and 'station energy' are a result of 'Public Space' combined with 'Well Being' . Both projects are described as inventions in a grey area between art and design.

After his graduation in 2008 Bas van Raay published a book named 'a mix of concepts vol.1'. This book is a compilation of concepts and was a start to define his new art/design studio : Atelier Vraay.

In 2009 he got funding to start building his new serie 'I am furniture'. In 2010 he started to develop a range of contacts by showing his work on several design fairs.

In 2011 started the collaboration with Karena Schuessler Gallery from Berlin. Their first show together, showing the "Little Sister heater" and the "Slow Moves lamp", has been a great succes and opened the eyes of many visitors at the Design Miami / Art Basel fair of June 2011. Late 2011 they openened Bas van Raay's first solo exhibition at Karena Schuessler's gallery in Berlin.

Late 2011 started the collaboration with ontwerplabel Vij5 by introducing the 'schenk' carafe at their design label.
